I’ll ship who I want to. OC’s with Canon Characters included if I so feel like it. Even if they’re canonically hooked up with someone else.

Depending on the situation, I certainly would have taken an option to say “Screw the Mages and the Templars” but I would have expected something ELSE to happen to make me go in and fight anyway, otherwise I would have been disappointed because, well, this kind of equals the whole point of a game, to be in extreme situations you have to deal with that will *probably* ultimately affect someone else’s life in some way or another. That’s called role play. Put yourself in the role of another person, make decisions that shape the story around you, and then deal with them/it. Otherwise why play at all? Just pick up mahjong or something where the decisions don’t ultimately affect the people around you.
